Latvia registers EU's third smallest reduction in exports in January

Latvia's exports in January 2014 reduced by 3% when compared with the same month last year, which is the third smallest reduction in the EU, according to Eurostat.
Similar to Latvia, Austria also saw a 3% reduction in exports.
According to seasonally unadjusted data, the steepest increase in export was recorded in Croatia – 21%, followed by Slovenia, Poland and the Czech Republic – by 9% each.
The steepest decreases in export were registered in Malta – 25%, Estonia – 20%, and Lithuania – 9%.
Latvia's imports reduced 9% in January, year-on-year. Greece also saw a nine% reduction in imports.
Lithuania and Estonia had the largest increase in imports – 12%, followed by Malta – 10%.
The largest year-on-year decreases in import were recorded in Portugal – 10%, Croatia – 8%, as well as Slovakia and the Czech Republic – 7% each.
