Traffic in Estonia is safer than in other Baltic States

Print versionIn a new blog entry, the Statistics Board stated that Estonia had the safest traffic year in 2012 among all Baltic States, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

In terms of traffic fatalities in the EU, the lowest numbers last year were reported by the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark. The total number of traffic fatalities in the European Union fell by 9%.
There were a total of 1,381 traffic accidents with human victims in Estonia. Pedestrians are injured in approximately a quarter of all traffic accidents with human victims and bicycle riders suffer in approximately 10% of all traffic accidents. The proportions are similar in fatal traffic accidents as well.
