Unemployment rate down to 8% in Latvia in mid-September
BC, Riga, 21.09.2020.Print version
By the middle of September, unemployment rate in Latvia has declined to 8%, said State Employment Agency director Evita Simsone in an interview with the Latvian public television today, cites LETA.
According to Simsone, in late August unemployment rate in Latvia was 8.1%, and now it has declined to 8%.
Still, the highest unemployment rate is registered in Latgale, and the lowest - in Riga, even though the Latvian capital showed the steepest rise of unemployment during the Covid-19 crisis.
The State Employment Agency expects that in fall and winter the unemployment level in Latvia might grow, also because there is still negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
