In July, the number of births in Latvia fell by 16.3% y-o-y

In July 2020, number of registered births (1 566) was 16.3% less than in the respective month of the previous year. Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that number of deaths in July comprised 2 215 and that is 5% less than in July a year ago.

In July of this year there were 649 deaths more than births.


In the first seven months of this year, 10 471 thousand births were registered, and that is 3% less than in January–July of 2019. 16 288 thousand deaths were registered, which is 2.4% less than in January–July last year.


In July, 1516 marriages were registered, which is 390 marriages less than in the respective month of the previous year.




On 1 August 2020, provisional population of Latvia accounted for 1 million 900 thousand.


In July, 2.2 thousand deaths were registered, which is 5% less than in July a year ago.




During the seventh month of this year, 1516 marriages were registered in Latvia, which is 390 marriages less than in the corresponding month a year ago.
