During the Covid-19 state of emergency in Latvia, 40% of residents did not feel financially safe, Luminor Bank told LETA referring to a survey carried out by the bank.

In Lithuania, 42% of respondents said they did not feel financially safe during the state of emergency in the country, while in Estonia, 31% of respondents said so.

24% of respondents in Latvia and 23% in Lithuania said that their financial situation was good enough to overcome difficulties they might face during the Covid-19 crisis, and so said 31% of respondents in Estonia.

According to the survey, residents' future plans regarding their savings have also changed over the past few months - 26% of respondents in Latvia said that they would now put aside more money for a rainy day, as well as 21% of respondents in Lithuania and 30% in Estonia.

"The better prepared people are for unforeseen events, such as the recent state of emergency, the more confident they are that they can, financially, pull through something like this. This may seem self-evident, however, the survey has found that only 15% of those who admitted they did not feel financially safe because of Covid-19 are now planning to put some money aside, while 38% are still not planning to save money for a rainy day," said Luminor representative Anzelika Dobrovolska.

The survey was carried out this past May by interviewing 1,618 respondents in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
