In April, the number of visitors in Latvian hotels fell by 93.6%

Accordingly data of the Central Statistical Bureau, in April 2020 the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 13.2 thousand, which is 93.6% less than in April 2019. As compared to April of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors has reduced by 86.6% and comprised 53.7 thousand nights.

In April of this year the number of foreign visitors comprised 2.4 thousand, which is 98.4% less than in April of last year, but the number of nights spent by foreign visitors has decreased by 92.4% and comprised 22.2 thousand nights.


In April 2020, 10.8 thousand Latvian visitors were hosted at tourist accommodation establishments, which is 82% less than in April 2019. The number of nights spent by residents has reduced by 71% and comprised 31.5 thousand.




In April 2020, 57% of respondents (in 2019 – 29%) answered that they did not carry out activity mentioning as a reason that tourism season has not started yet, improvements or repair of accommodation were carried out, or they were on downtime after emergency situation was declared in the country on 12 March 2020.
