BC, Tallinn, 21.05.2020.Print version
In total 92 newspapers were published in print in Estonia in 2019, eight fewer than the year before, whereas the number of magazines published in print declined by 11 to 336, writes LETA/BNS.
Riina Leinbock, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of printed newspapers has been declining in Estonia since 2008, when 155 newspapers were published in print.
"Also the number of daily newspapers published has declined -- from 17 in 2008 to just 10 last year. Where as recently as in 2018 there was one daily newspaper published also in Russian, last year all 10 daily newspapers were in the Estonian language," the analyst said.
The number of magazines published in print declined last year for the first time since 2013. Of the 336 magazines printed in Estonia in 2019, 282 were in Estonian.
