BC, Riga, 11.10.2017.Print version
The number of Baltic merger and acquisition deals in the market has risen by 20% in the first eight months of 2017 compared to the respective period last year, said Purdentia consultancy’s Purdentia M&A Folio report, cites LETA.

There is a reason to believe that this year will close with a significant rise in the number of deals.

The experts said that in the period from May until August the number of merger and acquisition deals declined compared to the first four months of this year which can be explained with the vacation season.

The value of the deals has been published for 18 out of 67 transactions, and the aggregate value is EUR 370 million. The biggest transaction was payment and transaction services company Worldline S.A. (France) acquiring First Data branches in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Also, Vitol Group acquiring Latvijas Kugnieciba shipping company’s shares for about EUR 50 million.

Estonia has been the most active Baltic state in mergers and acquisitions between May and August with 14 transactions, followed by Latvia with eight deals and Lithuania with six deals. 11 out of the 67 transactions were conducted among the Baltic states, and 28 deals involved a party outside the Baltic states. Foreign investors represented 12 countries.
