BC, Tallinn, 22.08.2017.Print version
Ethnic Estonians would predominantly favor election blocks and independent candidates, while non-ethnic Estonians would vote for the Center Party in local elections, figures from a survey commissioned by BNS and Postimees and carried out by pollster Kantar Emor show, cites LETA/BNS.

Of the Estonian voter segment, 29.2% would vote for election blocks or independent candidates, 25.8% would vote for the Reform Party, 14.8% would favor the Estonian Conservative People's Party (EKRE), 12.6% would cast their vote for the Social Democratic Party (SDE) and 9.3% would vote for the Center Party. The 4.6% rating of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) and the combined 3.6% rating of other parties remained below the 5% election threshold.

Among Russian-speakers, Center Party continued to be the uncontested number one with 71.1%, followed by election blocks and independent candidates with 10.9% and SDE with 8.8%. The ratings of the rest of the parties in the Russian-speaking segment were lower than the 5% election threshold, with 3.8% saying they would vote for the Reform Party, 3.7% favoring EKRE, 1% voting for other parties and 0.7% in favor of IRL.

A total of 28.6% of respondents were unsure of their preferences.

The answers of the people who listed "no preference" as to party identification were eliminated from the outcome to make it as comparable as possible with the outcome of local elections held during the survey period.

Kantar Emor interviewed 1,476 voting-age citizens of ages 16-74 over the internet for the survey from August 11 through 17.
