Wages of state officials in Latvia might grow by EUR 485-750 in coming years

Wages of state officials might climb even by EUR 485-750 in the coming years as a result of the planned tax reform, said Latvijas Avize daily, cites LETA.

According to the Finance Ministry’s forecasts, raising the minimum wage from EUR 380 to EUR 430 next year would promote increase of the average wage by 1%age point, while adding up other tax reform measures and other macroeconomic factors, the average gross monthly wage could grow 6% to EUR 970 in 2018.

 

The Finance Ministry predicts that in 2020 the average gross wage in Latvia would reach EUR 1,072 a month, and it would be a EUR 157 rise against this year. Based on these estimates, the daily concludes that the prime minister’s wage could grow by EUR 485-750 in three years.

 

The maximum wage of Saeima lawmakers, state officials elected and appointed by Saeima is calculated in relation to the average monthly wage.

 

Based on the Finance Ministry’s forecast for next year, in 2020 the approximate wage of Saeima lawmakers could reach EUR 3,104, wage of ministers – EUR 4,540, and wage of the prime minister – EUR 4,782.
