Lithuania's share of working IT specialists among EU's lowest

The share of information and communications specialists among all individuals employed in Lithuania has grown in 2016, however, has remained among the lowest among all 28 members of the European Union (EU), Eurostat said on Tuesday, cites LETA/BNS.

In 2016, the share of IT specialists was 2.5% of all employed persons in Lithuania, up from 2.1% in year-on-year.

 

Lower share of IT specialists was reported in Romania (2%) and Greece (1.4%). In Latvia and Estonia, the share stood at 2.2% and 5.3%, respectively, as compared with the EU average of 3.7%.

 

The bulk of all working IT specialists in Lithuania were men at 75.2%. In terms of working IT specialists with university degrees, Lithuania's 80.7% was only behind Ireland (82.4%).
