Prime ministers of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania to discuss formation of a common Baltic energy market

On April 26 and April 27, the Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis (New Era) will be on a visit to the capital of Lithuania Vilnius, where he will meet his Lithuanian and Estonian counterparts and will participate in a round-table discussion about developing a common Baltic energy market.

As the State Chancellery's spokeswoman Zanda Sadre informed LETA, the trilateral meeting of the heads of government of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will take place on Sunday, April 26, whereas the round table discussion "Common Baltic energy market and integration in European markets" is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 27.

 

Discussion participants will be economy ministers of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Sweden and Finland, representatives of the European Commission, and directors of the energy companies LEO LT, Latvenergo, Eesti Energia, PSE-Operator S.E., Svenska Kraftnat and Fingrid.

 

A number of presentations will be made at the discussion; representative of Latvia, the Economy Ministry State Secretary Anrijs Matiss will deliver a speech about challenges and future prospects of formation of a common Baltic energy market. Representatives of other countries will present their energy projects.

 

The Head of the Energy and Transport Directorate - General Matthias Ruete will make a presentation on the Baltic energy links project, about its priorities and about financial support that the European Union will provide for it. In the conclusion of the meeting, the three Baltic prime ministers will sign a joint declaration.
