Government sector's labor costs in Estonia grew by 7% in 2015

In 2015, the number of government sector workers declined 0.56% to 118,393 people, while the sector's labor costs grew by 7% in 2015, it can be seen from the public service report, cites LETA/BNS.

Average monthly salary in the government sector was 1,079 euros last year and it increased 8% on year – 2 percentage points more than the average pay in Estonia. "Our goal is to offer good public service. For that the state's employees must be professional," Minister of Public Administration Arto Aas said in a press release.

 

Average salary in the sector last year grew the fasters in the fields of social protection, education, healthcare and recreation and culture. The general gender pay gap in Estonia's government bodies has declined – in 2014 women working in the government sector earned 11.2% less than men and in 2015 the indicator fell to 9.2%.

 

The Ministry of Finance on Friday sent the government the public service report.
