Number of dwellings granted building permits in Estonia increased by 60.2% in Q1

Building permits were issued for 1,347 dwellings in new structures in Estonia during the first quarter of 2016, which is 60.2% more than in the same three-month period in 2015, it appears from figures released by Statistics Estonia on April 15th, informs LETA/BNS.

Compared with the final quarter of 2015, the number of dwellings for which building permits were issued dropped 11%.

 

The average size of a dwelling to be built in a new structure was 92 square meters compared with 97.9 square meters in the first quarter of 2015. The total area of dwellings granted building permits was 123,900 square meters.

 

During the first quarter, 990 new dwellings were cleared for use, compared with 973 new dwellings cleared for use in the same quarter in 2015. The average size of a dwelling cleared for use was 103.5 square meters compared with 99.8 square meters in the same three months last year.

 

In the three months, building permits were granted also for 572 nonresidential buildings, compared with 525 such permits issued in the first quarter of 2015. The total effective surface area of nonresidential buildings granted building permits in the first quarter was 282,800 square meters, compared with 303,200 square meters in the same period a year ago.

 

Nonresidential buildings cleared for use numbered 304, compared with 180 in the first quarter of 2015. The total effective surface area of nonresidential buildings cleared for use decreased to 117,800 square meters from 165,600 square meters last year.
