Lithuania's housing market turnover edges down to EUR 1.27 bln in 2015

Lithuania's housing market turnover last year totaled 1.267 billion euros, down 1% from 1.28 billion euros in 2014, non-final figures from the Center of Registers showed on January 19th, informs LETA/BNS.

Some 49.2% of the total amount of money last year was spent to purchase housing in Vilnius and 50.8% in the rest of the country.

 

The average price for a new-build apartment in Vilnius last year reached 1,453 euros per square meter, some 3.7% above the 2014 average and 6.8% above the average level for the past five years. The average price for a new-build house in the capital rose by 7.1% and 7%, respectively, to 780 euros.

 

According to the Center of Registers, last year saw an increase in more expensive, higher-class housing purchases, whereas prices for economy-class housing remained stable.

 

The average price for an old-build flat in Vilnius last year amounted to 1,182 euros per square meter, some 2% above the previous year's average and 7% above the average level for the past five years. The average price for an old-build house in the capital increased by 1.5% and 3.6%, respectively, to 948 euros.
