Swedish passport ranked most powerful in world

Swedish passport is the most powerful in the world, while Latvia is in 29th place, according to a study by the European travel firm GoEuro, reports LETA.

The company looked into issues such as how easy it is to get a passport, which countries it offers access to without a visa, its price and how long it is valid for.

 

The study suggests that a passport from Sweden is the most powerful in the world, followed by Finland, Germany, Great Britain and the United States.

 

Those with a passport from any of these top five nations can enter 174 countries without a visa, but Sweden's came out the cheapest. It costs the equivalent of EUR 40.

 

By contrast, a German passport is priced at EUR 64, and British passports are priced at EUR 102.

 

Latvia's passport is ranked 29th. Latvian citizens can travel to 158 countries without a visa, and a Latvian passport costs EUR 39, according to GoEuro data.

 

Estonia is in 31st place – Estonian citizens can travel to 157 countries without a visa, and an Estonian passport costs EUR 53. Lithuania is in 32nd place – Lithuanians can also enter 157 countries without a visa, however, a Lithuanian passport costs EUR 160 – according to GoEuro data.

 

The Lithuanian State Police indicate that it costs EUR 43 to receive a new Lithuanian passport.


Afghanistan and Iraq are ranked last in the GoEuro study – citizens of these countries can travel to, respectively, 28 and 31 countries without a visa.
