Lithuania's Tripartite Council okays minimum wage increase from July

Lithuanian Business Employers' Confederation, meanwhile, said it would leave further discussions on the minimum wage increase if this amount in the future is not linked to economic indicators.
According to Danas Arlauskas, head of the Lithuanian Business Employers' Confederation, the Government upon its statement that funds for the minimum wage increase are already provided for in this year's budget completely ignored the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises.
In his opinion, the minimum wage changes should be considered once a year and this amount should be linked to the consumer price index and labour productivity.
The Tripartite Council has also assented to these proposals.
The monthly minimum wage in Lithuania last time was increased in October 2014.
Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius on Tuesday said that another minimum wage increase (to EUR 350) is possible in October 2016.
