Lithuanian PM: minimum wage may be raised again since January

BC, Vilnius, 21.04.2015.Print version
Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius says the minimum monthly wage may be increased for the second time to EUR 350 since January 2016, reports LETA/ELTA.

"The minimum monthly wage will be increased since 1 January next year. This is preliminary information that we have discussed with the finance minister," the prime minister told the national radio.

According to Butkevicius, currently the financial situation of the state makes it possible to increase the minimum monthly wage for the second time. However the discussed amount of EUR 350 is not final and might change.

The Tripartite Council is considering the minimum monthly wage increase from EUR 300 to EUR 325 since 1 July 2015. The prime minister says such proposal will most likely be approved.

"We see that the economic situation is stable in Lithuania, in spite of the geopolitical situation and external influence," said the prime minister.
