Latvia registered one of the smallest reductions in exports in EU in January-February

Latvia's exports in the first two months of the year 2015, compared to the same period last year, reduced by 2%, according to Eurostat. Thus, Latvia registered one of the smallest reductions in exports in the EU, writes LETA.

Just like Latvia, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands also saw 2% reductions in their exports.

 

Increases in exports were registered in 13 countries, reductions were registered in 13 countries, while exports in Malta and Italy remained unchanged.

 

The steepest increase in export was recorded in Cyprus – 70%, followed by Ireland – 16%.

 

The steepest decreases in export were registered in Greece – by 8%, as well as Lithuania and Finland – by 7% each.

 

Meanwhile, Estonia saw a 3% reduction in exports in January-February.

 

Latvia's imports in January-February, when compared to January-February 2014, reduced by 5%, which was one of the largest reductions in the EU. Similar to Latvia, Estonia also registered a five% reduction in exports.

 

Increases in imports were registered in nine countries, remained unchanged in one (Slovakia), and reduced in 18.

 

The steepest annual increase in imports in January-February was registered in Malta – by 31%, followed by Great Britain – by 10%.

 

Meanwhile, the steepest reduction in imports was registered in Greece – by 16%, followed by Poland and Finland – by 8% each.

 

Imports in Lithuania reduced by 3% in January-February.
