Even though economic growth indicators of the first months of 2015 are not too encouraging, yet the prime minister says it is too early to tell how Lithuania will fare in collecting state budget revenue and thus salaries should grow.

"So far we are not planning to change our decision and the minimum monthly wage will be increased since 1 July," the prime minister told the journalists on Tuesday.

The minimum monthly wage would grow by EUR 25, from EUR 300 to EUR 325. President Dalia Grybauskaite has expressed her support for the move, stating that at the moment the minimum salary is the lowest in Lithuania of all three Baltic States.

As reported, three parties of the Coalition – the Social Democratic Party, the Labour Party and of the party Order and Justice – have agreed that salaries must grow.

For the last time the minimum monthly wage was raised in Lithuania in October 2014 and now it amounts to EUR 300. Meanwhile, the minimum monthly wage in Estonia is EUR 355, in Latvia EUR 320 and in Poland 397.
