Latvia's and Estonia’s exports up 2% in January, Lithuania’s down

Latvia's exports in January 2015, compared to January 2014, increased by 2%, according to Eurostat. Meanwhile, Estonia saw a 1% increase in exports in January, while Lithuania registered a drop of 9%, reports LETA.

Increases in exports were registered in 12 countries, but reductions were registered in 16 countries.

 

Similar to Latvia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark and Slovenia are saw 2% annual increases in exports in January.

 

The steepest increase in export was recorded in Cyprus – 134%, followed by Ireland – 15%.

 

The steepest decreases in export were registered in Greece – by 13%, and Finland – 11%.

 

Latvia's imports in January, when compared to January 2014, reduced by 4%, which was one of the smallest reductions in the EU.

 

Similar to Latvia, Bulgaria, Italy and the Netherlands also registered four% annual reduction in imports in January.

 

Increases in imports were registered in six countries, remained unchanged in two, and reduced in 20.

 

The steepest annual increase in imports in January was registered in the Czech Republic – by 5%, followed by Romania and Great Britain – by 4% each.

 

Meanwhile, the steepest reduction in imports was registered in Greece – by 17%, followed by Finland – 14%.

 

Imports in Estonia reduced by 5% in January, while Lithuania saw a 9% reduction.
