OECD: Latvia needs to improve public sector efficiency and prevent of possible "bubbles"

BC, Riga, 25.02.2015.Print version
Improving Latvia's competitiveness requires higher productivity, more efficient public sector, and prevention of possible "bubbles" in the economy, informs LETA, according to the first Survey of Latvia prepared by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The OECD report indicates that Latvia has achieved notable progress in convergence of the national economy and implementation of structural reforms, which made it possible for the country to join the euro zone.

Economy Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) said that the OECD survey was taking Latvia one step closer to membership in the organization.

OECD Chief Economist Catherine Mann said that the transformation of the Latvian economy and economic convergence since the 1990s had been very impressive.

As reported, the first OECD Economic Survey of Latvia is presented in Riga today.
