During the year 2014, the number of non-citizens in Latvia's total population has reduced from 13% to 12.1%, the head of the Naturalization Department at the Office for Citizenship and Migrations Affairs Igors Gorbunovs said at Saeima Citizenship, Migration and Social Cohesion Committee.
He said that the current number of non-citizens living in the country is 262,030.
On January 1, 2014, the number of non-citizens living in Latvia was 282,876, or 13% of the total population, Gorbunovs told LETA.
This means that the number of non-citizens reduced by about 20,000 persons last year.
Gorbunovs pointed out that this is a larger reduction than usual, as the number of non-citizens in previous years used to reduce by about 15,000 persons per year.
