99% of drugstores across Latvia have signed agreements on joining the Unified Electronic Information System of the Health Sector, or e-health system, said National Health Service (NVD) representative Tanita Tamme, cites LETA.

In order to make sure about readiness of drugstores to use the e-health system and their experience so far, NVD experts visited about 100 drugstores which have been using the e-health system most actively.

Tamme said that specialists made sure that employees have been trained and ready for work with the e-health system. Additional trainings will be organized to ensure support.

According to the latest NVD data, the number of e-prescriptions has risen steeply – from 70,000 in early October to 209,000 in early December. One fifth or 42,000 e-prescriptions have been prepared in the past two weeks.

As reported, medical specialists, hospitals and drugstores may voluntary join the e-health system until December 31, but it will become mandatory after January 1, 2018.
