Lithuania invites Israeli scientists to use its science valleys

BC, Vilnius, 28.06.2016.Print version
Lithuania is inviting Israel's scientists to cooperate and use its integrated science, studies and business centers, or "science valleys", Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said on Tuesday after meeting with Nili Cohen, president of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities, reports LETA/BNS.

"The formula for success nowadays is that winners are those who join forces to generate ideas, make decisions and carry out projects," the prime minister said in a press release.

"Lithuania has perfect grounds for such products, with five integrated science, studies and business centers, valleys, set up in five different regions. These valleys combine the potential of science and business to attract high-tech companies to work together with Lithuanian scientists and thus open the door to international markets for future technologies," he said.

According to him, Lithuania is the first Baltic country whose Smart Specialization Plan has already been approved by the European Commission.

The Lithuanian Academy of Science and the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities are to sign a cooperation agreement in Vilnius on Tuesday.
