Money previously meant for ''World Expo'' to be allocated for Latvia's participation in European Space Agency

The EUR 1.34 million funding originally intended for Latvia's participation at the "World Expo 2015" trade fair, will be spent on the country's participation in the European Space Agency instead, Latvian Saeima approved on September 3rd, reports LETA.

According to the Economy Ministry's information, the Education and Science Ministry transferred the participation fee for 2015 in the amount of EUR 1,339,900 to the European Space Agency on March 16.

 

The Education and Science Ministry informed the European Space Agency that Latvia will cover the participation fee for 2016 this year. Thus, the Education and Science Ministry has received an invoice from the European Space Agency stating that Latvia's participation fee for 2016 amounts to EUR 1,343,919.

 

As reported, the government decided on January 27 that Latvia will not participate in the "World Expo 2015" fair trade in Milan this year.

 

A total of EUR 5.6 million were allocated form the state budget for Latvia's participation at "World Expo 2015".
