Latvian ministry: we're ready to continue discussions on power trade

Latvia is open to further discussions on the Baltic states' power trade with third countries, its Ministry of Economics says. It says the new methodology agreed with Lithuania and Estonia is already working and is effective, adding that Russian certificates guarantee that electricity is not produced in Belarus, informed LETA/BNS.

In a video meeting on Friday, Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas and his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal signed an agreement on technological and financial cooperation between Estonia and Ukraine guaranteeing tax exemption to technological Estonian-Ukrainian cooperation projects in Ukraine, informs LETA/BNS.

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to October 2019, in October 2020 total retail trade turnover rose by 6.4 %. Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 7.2 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 2.2 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel – by 16.4 %.

The Q3 2020 financial statement of the bank and Rietumu Group has been published. According to the statement, the bank's net profit in nine months reached 18.1 miln euros, while the bank earned 8.4 mln euros in profit during the third quarter.

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to September, in October 2020, the level of construction costs in Latvia increased by 0.4 %. Prices of building materials grew by 0.6 %, labour remuneration of workers – by 0.2 %, but maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment rose by 0.1 %.

Median salary in Estonia rises to EUR 1,189 in Q3

According to Statistics Estonia, the median wage increased by 19 euros or 1.6% to 1,189 euros in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, cites LETA/BNS.

Fishing cards in Estonia to be switched to 7-day system from 2021

Estonian Minister of the Environment Rain Epler signed a decree approving fishermen's fishing opportunities for 2021, the biggest change for the coming year will be the issuance of all Baltic Sea gillnet fishing cards for seven days of one's choice instead of the current duration of a calendar week, informs LETA/BNS.
