Estonian DIY retailer Bauhof to keep open stores not located at shopping malls

BC, Tallinn , 26.03.2020.Print version
The stores of Estonia's DIY retailer Bauhof that are not located in shopping malls will remain open, purchases from Bauhof's online store have surged over the past couple of weeks, reported LETA/BNS.

Bauhof's store at the Mustika shopping mall in the city district of Mustamae in Tallinn will close on March 27, and employees at the branch will begin servicing online orders, which have doubled in the past two weeks.

Customer numbers have declined throughout the chain; however individual purchases have grown larger, indicating that people think their needs through before coming to the store, Evelin Pae, marketing director of Bauhof, told.

The DIY chain is regulating the number of customers entering and exiting the store and making sure that customers move about in the store either alone or in pairs while keeping a two-meter distance from other shoppers.

The company is also making available hand sanitizers at the entrances, exits and information stands, and cleaning frequently used surfaces, such as cash registers, shopping carts and payment terminals, three times a day.
