Ventspils port terminals see 0.6% increase in cargo turnover in 2019

In 2019, terminals operating at the Freeport of Ventspils reloaded 20.457 mln tons of cargo, which is an increase of 0.6% against 2018, the Transport Ministry informed LETA.
Of the cargo handled by the port's terminals last year,
liquid cargo accounted for 10.176 mln, down 3% from the previous year. Handling
of bulk cargo was up 8.7% to 7.796 mln tons and handling of general cargo
dropped 6.6% to 2.485 mln tons.
In December 2019, cargo handling in Ventspils port fell 36.8%
from the same month a year ago to 986,000 tons. That amount included 561,000
tons of liquid cargo, 247,000 tons of bulk cargo and 178,000 tons of general
cargo.
Ventspils is the second largest port in Latvia by cargo
turnover.
