Latvian Nordeka bus drivers' strike continues

BC, Riga, 12.11.2014.Print version
Trade union LABA decided today to continue the Nordeka bus drivers' strike against low salaries, CEO of LABA Raimonds Gailis told LETA.

As reported, about 100 people gathered for a rally at the intercity bus company Nordeka on Monday, demanding higher salaries for bus drivers.

22 bus drivers had said they would participate in or the strike, but not all are striking. Nordeka believes that only eight drivers actually went on strike.

Today is the fifth day of the strike.

In the meantime, all Nordeka buses have been running as scheduled during the previous three days.

The strike will continue indefinitely until the company's board fulfills the protestors' demand to increase the hourly wage by at least 25%, LABA informed LETA.
