Two candidates offer to sell Latvia stationary speed cameras

BC, Riga, 18.09.2014.Print version
Two candidates have responded to the Road Traffic Safety Directorate's open tender for the procurement of 20 stationary speed cameras in Latvia, the directorate informed LETA.

The directorate has received offers from two companies, however, their names are not being disclosed yet. No deadline has been set for the final decision, however, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate promises that the process will be swift. The directorate also refuses to reveal the sum of the offers.

The Road Traffic Safety Directorate hopes that the first speed cameras will be set up already this year.

As reported, the previous deadline for submissions was set for August 19, but it was later extended until August 26. The directorate then decided to amend the tender's regulations by extending the deadline until September 18. The amendments list updated technical specifications, hence the deadline had to be extended.

The procurement consists of two parts: the state is planning to buy 16 stationary speed cameras with a Doppler radar and four speed cameras with a laser scanner.
