Palmer refutes speculations about bankruptcy of Estonian Air

BC, Tallinn, 25.02.2014.Print version
Chairman of the board of Estonian national carrier Estonian Air, Jan Palmér, expressed regret over speculations published in the media about the possible bankruptcy of Estonian Air, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

Jan Palmér.

"It is extremely regrettable to read speculations about the bankruptcy of Estonian Air. An aviation company sells trust, first and foremost, and all kinds of speculations about a possible bankruptcy are certainly not doing anything good to our ticket sales," Palmér said. "I confirm that the state of Estonian Air today is much firmer than a year ago when the government approved of the carrier's restructuring plan and allocated rescue aid loan to implement it. The restructuring of Estonian Air has proceeded according to plan."

The European Commission recently launched an investigation over the legality of state aid granted to Estonian Air. Estonian Air hopes for an answer by the end of this year.

Delfi wrote last week that at the Reform Party board meeting, the issue of economy and communications minister Juhan Parts was discussed since Estonian Air is threatened by bankruptcy.
