airBaltic extends contract with Martin Gauss

The Supervisory Board of Latvian national airline airBaltic and CEO Martin Gauss have mutually agreed to extend his contract as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board until 31.12.2015, informed BC vice president of corporate communications at airBaltic Janis Vanags.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: "airBaltic has an excellent team, and I am delighted to take the airline forward, and build on the good track record of the past 2 years. We demonstrated with our restructuring programme that even in difficult times an airline can be turned back to profit.”

 

Andris Liepiņš, Chairman of airBaltic Supervisory Board: "Under Martin Gauss leadership, airBaltic executed a robust business turnaround programme leading to major improvements of the net result of the airline. We are delighted that Martin Gauss, Vitolds Jakovļevs and Martin Sedlacky will continue as the Executive Board, and take airBaltic to the next level."

 

 

Martin Gauss joined airBaltic as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board on 1 November 2011. The executive board of airBaltic consists of three members. Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss is the Chairman of the Board. Chief Operations Officer Martin Sedlacky and Chief Finance Officer Vitolds Jakovļevs are the two other members of the Board.

 

As announced recently, airBaltic has achieved a net profit of EUR +13.2 million in the third quarter of 2013. airBaltic has by far surpassed its original plans and turned around last year’s loss of EUR -26.72 million into a net profit of EUR +0.72 million in the nine months Jan-Sept 2013.
