Uber could stir Latvian taxi service market

U.S. businessman Travis Kalanick, who has been ranked by the U.S. weekly news magazine "Time" among the world's 25 most influential minds in information technology, has established a company in Latvia – Uber Latvia, informs LETA/Nozare.lv, referring to firmas.lv information.

Uber is a venture-funded startup company based in San Francisco, California that makes a mobile application that connects passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire. The company was founded in 2009. Since then, it has gradually expanded in the U.S. and other countries.

 

Uber's mobile app launched in 2010 in San Francisco, on iPhones and Android phones. The company's expansion on new markets was frequently opposed by local taxi service providers. At the moment, Uber is involved in New York's taxi wars.

 

Uber Latvia was established on October 10, 2013. Kalanick is the company's chairman, Ryan Graves – board member. The company's share capital is EUR 2,846. Uber Latvia belongs to Netherlands-registered company Uber International Hoding B.V.
