The government will allocate Estonian Air the rest of the rescue loan

BC, Tallinn, 07.02.2013.Print version
The Estonian government decided at its Thursday session to transfer to national carrier Estonian Air 4.5 million euros, which is the last part of the 8.3 million euros rescue loan decided upon at the end of the year 2012, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

The interest rate of the loan is 15% and duration six months.

This money should keep the carrier afloat at least till the beginning of March.

EU member states can grant companies two types of state aid: rescue aid and restructuring aid. The money allocated today is part of the first but the EU has to okay both types of loans. So far, the Estonian government has not received the approval of the European Commission yet.
