Kubilius called the idea of Air Lituanica unrealistic

On Friday, Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius during his visit in Kaunas, was asked for his opinion on Vilnius Mayor Arturas Zuokas' visit to Kaunas Municipality in order to promote a new airline and on the refusal of Kaunas' politicians to buy some of the airline's shares.

"I do not want to criticize the mayor who has some grandiose plans and interesting ideas, but I think that many of them lose a sense of reality. A heavily indebted municipality should first of all take care of the issues of the city and self-government rather than establish aviation or taxi companies. Kaunas is more down to earth than Vilnius," the PM said to reporters, writes LETA/ELTA.

Thursday Kaunas City Council refused to include a discussion on Air Lituanica prospects in the sitting's agenda. Kaunas' politicians were not convinced that their city should buy the new company's shares for EUR 25,000 per unit.
