Pasazieru vilciens drafts new train procurement tender schedule

Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 03.10.2012.Print version
Joint-stock train operator Pasazieru vilciens has drafted a new train procurement tender schedule that will be reviewed during the government's session next week, the company's representatives announced during a press conference today.

The new regulations will be as simple as possible to attract more contenders, and will also include the lowest possible price and technical specification, emphasized Pasazieru vilciens, writes LETA/Nozare.lv.

The new tender will envisage train supply, but will not deal with train maintenance, as it was in the previous tender.

The winner will supply 34 electric trains and 7 diesel trains. The trains could be serviced by Pasazieru vilciens subsidiary VRC Zasulauks.

As reported, Latvia's Pasazieru vilciens and Spain's Construcciones y Auxiliares de Ferrocariles S.A. (CAF) have failed to reach agreement on the procurement of new trains.
