Print versionThe coastline of Lithuanian resort Curonian Spit will further be closed for tourists' small boats, the Lithuanian maritime news portal Jura24.lt reports.
Maritime Culture Coordinating Council had asked to create more sightseeing places; however, the Deputy Environment Minister Stanislovas Sriubenas declined proposal pointing at environment protection, writes LETA.
"We cannot foresee the permanent places in the nature's reserves because of the special species. We have to protect sand dunes which are especially vulnerable to any kind of human activity, including visiting," claimed Sriubenas.
Sriubenas emphasized that any kind of stationary harbors might destroy natural image of the Curonian Spit; therefore, leisurers can use official boats which regularly travel to the Curonian Spit.
