Tallinn mayor to be deprived of driving license for overspeeding

Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar was caught driving over the speed limit, as a result the court ordered him to pay 320 euros penalty and restricted Tallinn head's driving license for two months, the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR reported.

The Tallinn mayor was caught at overspeeding on June 6, 2012, on Tallinn-Narva highway. A car that he was driving was going at a speed of approximately 84 kilometers per hour(+/- three kilometers per hour), while the allowed speed ceiling amounts to 50 kilometers per hour, writes LETA.

 

According to the law, exceeding the regulated speed limit by 21 – 40 kilometers per hour is punished with a fine up to a hundred penalty units and, or revocation of driving license for up to six months.

 

As Estonian newspaper Ohtuleht said, Savisaar has appealed the police's decision in the court.
