Stadler: Freivalds was unable to properly manage new train procurement for Latvia

It is difficult to comment the true reasons behind Freivalds' resignation, however, the transport minister accepted his resignation without hesitation, therefore it must have been sufficiently justified. Moreover, there were various uncertainties, the government and international institutions had huge doubts about the procurement and possible violations during the process, which proves that Freivalds was not capable of properly managing this process and bringing it to a successful conclusion, point out Stadler representatives, writes LETA.
Perhaps it is good that a new CEO has been appointed at Pasazieru vilciens, who hopefully will thoroughly assess the current situation and all potential violations in the procurement, notes Stadler.
As reported, Freivalds handed in his resignation today, and Transport Minister Aivis Ronis accepted the resignation. The Transport Ministry appointed Artis Birkmanis as the new CEO for Pasazieru vilciens.
