Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn , 03.05.2012.Print version
Estonian economy and communications minister Juhan Parts signed on Wednesday in Doha an aviation agreement with Qatar; both states' aviation companies have shown an interest towards creating an air link, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Parts also met on Wednesday with the management of Qatar's national aviation company Qatar Airways. "Bilateral aviation agreements with different states of the world are in Estonia's interests. Our aim is to conclude such agreements with as many states as possible in the next few years," said Parts.

The agreement gives the right to fly over the territory of the participating state without landing, make stops on the territory of the other state for non-commercial purposes and at agreed upon destinations to take passengers on board and let them off, take cargo and mail on board and unload then.

The Riigikogu has to approve of the agreement. A similar agreement will be signed with Oman in the near future.
