The officials were detained on suspicion of taking bribes for not carrying out transport control inspections.
According to the investigation, officials from the Riga City Council's Transport Department's Transport Control Administration took the bribes on a regular basis for a substantial period of time. The officials took the bribes for not carrying out transport control inspections and issuing fines for violations.
The CPB points out that there is enough evidence collected to accuse five officials of bribe taking.
