A half Estonian fuel companies have left the market since April

Print versionThe amendments to the liquid fuels law that came in force in Estonia in April 2011, introducing a guarantee requirement for companies that trade with fuel, has reduced the number of such companies by a half, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports.
While before the law amendments came in force, 374 fuel traders operated in Estonia, by now the number has fallen to 184, Tax and Customs Board said.
Fuel trading companies paid over 50 million euros more VAT to the state budget in the period of June to November 2011 than at the same time the year earlier.
In April last year, amendments to the liquid fuels law came in force that introduced additional requirements on companies that trade with fuels, concerning the registration of the companies, presenting VAT guarantees, obligations to sellers of fuel and operators of excise warehouses.
