Latvian national airline airBaltic blames Riga International Airport board member Andris Damlics for signing a discriminatory agreement with the Irish low-fare airline Ryanair and claims that, due to this agreement, airBaltics has overpaid the airport EUR 34 million (LVL 23.5 million), the airline informed the business information portal Nozare.lv.

As reported, speaking on Latvian State Television's program "100.pants" last night, Damlics suggested that airBaltic is possibly experiencing financial problems.

airBaltic reminds that Damlics was a member of the airport's board when "the discriminatory agreement with Ryanair was signed".

"Transport minister has admitted that Ryanair's agreement is disadvantageous to the state and the airport and discriminates against airBaltic," emphasizes the airline.

Therefore, during the recent years airBaltic has overpaid EUR 34 million to the airport, writes LETA.

"We do not expect that the airport will repay this amount, however, this discrimination must end," points out airBaltic.
