Number of flights handled by Latvian air traffic controller LGS down 55.3% in 11 months

Print version Latvian air traffic controller Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS), which is responsible for managing air traffic in Latvia, handled 125,472 flights in the first 11 months of 2020, down 55.3% from the same period a year ago, the company said LETA.

The January-November figure included 33,276 flights to and from Riga, down 58.5% y-o-y, and 92,196 transit flights, down 54% from January-November 2019.
In November, LGS handled 8,930 flights, down 58% from November 2019, and down 12.3% from the previous month.
As reported, LGS handled 302,049 flights in 2019, which is 3.3% more than in 2018. This figure included 86,780 flights to and from Riga, up 4.3% y-o-y, and 215,269 transit flights, up 2.9% against 2018.
Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme is a fully state-owned enterprise providing air navigation services to airspace users.
