airBaltic plans to operate flights from Riga to 49 destinations this summer

Latvia's airBaltic national carrier plans to operate flights from Riga to 49 destinations by the end of August, the company's spokeswoman Alise Briede informed

She indicated that airBaltic is currently operating routes from Riga to various European business hubs and continues to reopen routes to such popular destinations as Dubrovnik, Rijeka and Split in Croatia, Barcelona in Spain, Nice in France, Larnaca in Cyprus, Rome, Catania and Milan in Italy, among others. Additionally, airBaltic offers direct flights from Tallinn and Vilnius. 


airBaltic expects to be operating flights from Riga to 49 destinations by the end of Augusts,  as well as to 10 destinations from Tallinn and 10 destinations from Vilnius.


 The company informed that airBaltic is in close cooperation with the authorities to monitor the situation and is flexible to adjust the flight schedule if needed. Passengers are strongly suggested to check the travel regulations and airport restrictions on the official websites or with local embassies before travelling. 


The company's representatives also indicated that the number of new bookings and demand for flights has tripled from the beginning of June. The most popular holiday destinations this month include Malaga in Spain and Athens in Greece and the destinations in highest demand for August include Reykjavik in Iceland, as well as Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia. 


Briede also noted steady growth trends on routes like Riga-Oslo, Riga-Berlin, Riga-Amsterdam, Riga-London and Riga-Dublin. Flights from London and Dublin to Riga are especially popular.
