BC, Riga, 20.05.2020.Print version
The port of Riga received 109,914 ship passengers in the first four months of 2020, down 47.3% from the same period a year ago, writes LETA, according to information available on the port’s website.

The port did not receive any cruise ship passengers in January-April this year in contrast to 5,472 cruise ship passengers who arrived in Riga a year ago.

As reported, Estonian ferry operator Tallink has two ferries - the Isabelle and the Romantika - running on the Riga-Stockholm route. However, since a state of emergency has been declared over the Covid-19 crisis, regular passenger service on the ferry line has been suspended, with only special trips taking place with authorities' permission.

In 2019, the port of Riga received 868,653 ship passengers, which is a 0.2% reduction from 2018. The number of cruise ship passengers declined 7.5% on year to 69,207 in 2019.

Riga is the largest port in Latvia by cargo turnover and ship passenger numbers.
