With regular passenger services resuming today, Covid-19 tests will no longer be performed at the airports and ports. Instead, people can apply for the coronavirus tests by contacting their family physicians or calling 8303.

Riga Airport CEO Laila Odina told journalists Monday that the airport received this information only today. She voiced regret that the Emergency Medical Service will not keep its test points at the airport.

"We will look for alternative options and maybe approach some privately-owned laboratories to provide this opportunity," Odina said. 

The Health Ministry stressed that the persons who arrive in Latvia from foreign countries, excluding Lithuania and Estonia, are still required to self-isolate for 14 days.

Until today, passengers who arrived in Latvia on special repatriation trips could undergo Covid-19 tests provided by the Emergency Medical Service. Now, as some of the regular international passenger services resume, it has been decided that arrivals can apply for the tests just like anybody else.

Like before, family physicians can refer their patients for Covid-19 tests.

As reported, the three Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania reopened their shared borders on Friday, allowing citizens to move freely for business and pleasure in a travel bubble after two months of coronavirus restrictions.
