No more regular repatriation flights planned after March 27 - Foreign Ministry

No more regular repatriation flights are being planned after March 27 unless there are some unexpected situations, Foreign Ministry press secretary Janis Bekeris told LETA.

He said that approximately 1,500 Latvian nationals have returned on these organized repatriation flights the past two weeks, while many others have returned through other modes of transport via Lithuania and Estonia.


''Those Latvian nationals who made the decision to return during the crisis have had the opportunity to do so,'' Bekeris said.


Bekeris also recommended those Latvian nationals who are still on their way to Latvia should travel through one of the still available transit routes through Tallinn, Helsinki, Minsk and elsewhere.


The Foreign Ministry said that it will work individually with those Latvian nationals who are still stuck somewhere abroad.


Latvians can also travel back home via Vilnius, but the ministry warns that persons can only return through Lithuania in transit to the Latvian border with a police escort.

airBaltic will conduct it final repatriation flight to and from Frankfurt on March 30.
