Avia Solutions withdraws complaints over Vilnius airport expansion

BC, Vilnius, 08.06.2018.Print version
Avia Solutions Group (ASG), a Lithuania-based, Warsaw-listed aviation business group that is indirectly owned by Lithuanian businessman Gediminas Ziemelis, has withdrawn complaints from a court over a ban on the group to build a hangar at Vilnius Airport and the cancellation of its NATO supplier certificate, reports LETA/BNS.

"We made this decision in order to focus our efforts on developing the group's global strategy of becoming one of the largest aviation service companies in the world," Giedrius Karsokas, director for corporate affairs at ASG, said in a press release on Friday.

It makes no sense to continue litigation as the state's position is based on classified material that is not accessible to the company, which prevents it from effectively defending its rights, he said.

The group has withdrawn a total of four complaints from the Lithuanian Supreme Administrative Court.

A special government commission in November 2015 barred FL Technics, AVG's aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services arm, from expanding its operations at Vilnius Airport, saying that the company did not meet the national security criteria.

The Economy Ministry last year removed FL Technics from a list of potential bidders for NATO contracts.
